Dahl Playfield
Dahl Playfield

The first efforts to acquire the site began in 1947 by the "80 parents of Cub Pack 165". The area was originally known as "Ravenna Swamp" (peat bog), then "80th Street Playground". The Board of Park Commissioners renamed it in 1955 to honor Waldo J. "Red" Dahl, member of the board from 1934-1936, 1941-1951 and 1951-1968, including 9 terms as president.

Recently, it has been redesigned, and now features new playground equipment, a wading pool, as well as a skate park.
